I set a goal to finish 75 books in 2019 and a second goal that 25 of those books will be self-help or educational. Those types of books inspire me and help me with blogging so I wanted to make sure a good amount of my total books read come from that area.
By the way, I’m truly loving using GoodReads to track my reading. You all were right! It is really motivational to see my progress! I’m a little behind where I should be towards my reading goal but I’ve been reading a ton in September so far. So I’m confident I will catch up.
I wanted to start sharing every month what I’ve read and how I liked them. I find so many great books from other bloggers and on Instagram so I wanted to start sharing mine.
I finished 8 books in September —- which is great! Here’s what I read + my honest thoughts on each of the books:
I rarely reread books because my to read pile is so huge that I don’t want to reread as often when I have so much new stuff that I haven’t read yet.
I read How to be a Badass years ago and I loved it and really felt that it helped me to improve my life and go after what I wanted. So I felt it was time for it to be read again.
Jen does such a great job with her books, especially this one, in motivating and getting you excited to live your best life. This is one of my most recommended books. I loved it both times I’ve read it.

This is the 49th book in the In Death series by J.D Robb also known as Nora Roberts. I love this series but like all series, especially long ones, there are some books that are more enjoyable than others.
Vendetta in Death was a good one though I don’t think it is in my top 10 though but also not in my bottom 10. It was a good one but not one of the best.
These books are just fun and quick reads and they release a new one a couple of times a year so you don’t have to wait long between books.

Books three through six are all part of the Three Dark Crowns series. As a fan of YA especially YA fantasy this was such a great series. The characters were great and yo really became invested in the sisters and who would win.
In every generation on the island of Fennbirn, a set of triplets is born: three queens, all equal heirs to the crown and each possessor of a coveted magic. Mirabella is a fierce elemental, able to spark hungry flames or vicious storms at the snap of her fingers. Katharine is a poisoner, one who can ingest the deadliest poisons without so much as a stomachache. Arsinoe, a naturalist, is said to have the ability to bloom the reddest rose and control the fiercest of lions.
But becoming the Queen Crowned isn’t solely a matter of royal birth. Each sister has to fight for it. And it’s not just a game of win or lose…it’s life or death. The night the sisters turn sixteen, the battle begins. The last queen standing gets the crown.
I have read most of John Greens books and am a big fan of his work. Though this book was good it wasn’t my favorite of his novels.
What’s it about:
Before. Miles “Pudge†Halter is done with his safe life at home. His whole life has been one big non-event, and his obsession with famous last words has only made him crave “the Great Perhaps†even more (Francois Rabelais, poet). He heads off to the sometimes crazy and anything-but-boring world of Culver Creek Boarding School, and his life becomes the opposite of safe. Because down the hall is Alaska Young. The gorgeous, clever, funny, sexy, self-destructive, screwed up, and utterly fascinating Alaska Young. She is an event unto herself. She pulls Pudge into her world, launches him into the Great Perhaps, and steals his heart. Then. . . .
After. Nothing is ever the same.

I’ve been a fan of Marie for a long time now. If you haven’t heard of her before she is the creator of the award-winning show MarieTV which is filled with inspirational and informational videos.
Her Mantra has always been everything is figureoutable and her book is of the same name and expands on many of the ideas in her videos.
This book will help you learn to overcome obstacles in order to be more successful. This book is one of the best self-help books I’ve read in a long time.
